בבית ספרינו, אנו מתחילות ללמוד אנגלית כבר בכיתה א', ומגיעות לידיעות והישגים נאים ומכובדים עד סוף שש שנות הלימוד. כל כיתה מחולקת לקבוצת דוברי אנגלית ודוברי עברית.

 

תכנית דוברי עברית

בכיתה א' אנו לומדות דיבור ולקראת סוף השנה אותיות. אנו לומדות קבוצות מילים, כגון מספרים, צבעים, חפצים בקלמר ובכיתה, המשפחה שלי, אני וגופי, מאכלים, פירות וירקות, חיות בר, מים וחווה, רגשות, ופעולות שעושים. אנו נהנות משירים ומשחקים אשר הופכים את שיעורי אנגלית לחוויה של ממש.

 

בכיתה ב' אנו ממשיכות  ללמוד קריאה. אנו לומדות אות אחת בכל שבוע, אות גדולה, קטנה והצליל שלה. לכל אות יש מילים המתחילות באותה אות, אשר בחלקן נשמעות אותו הדבר בעברית. אנו לומדות לקרוא בצורה פונטית, כלומר, כל אות והצליל שלה, וגם באופן גלובלי – המילה בשלימותהּ.

אנו גם מחזקות את אוצר המילים שלמדנו בשנה שעברה, ולומדות קבוצות חדשות של מילים: מקצועות, כלי תחבורה, השכונה, פעולות ורגשות נוספים, וכן שירים חדשים. מתחילות בקריאת מילים בנות הברה אחת.

 

בכיתה ג' אנו מחזקות את הקריאה שהתחלנו, ועוברות למילים, משפטים ואפילו סיפורים קצרים. אנו קוראות ספרונים חביבים על החוויות של Lee ושל Todd. אנו לומדות קיבוצי אותיות שעושות צלילים שונים, כגון, ee, ea, th, sh, sh, ph, ai, oa, magic e, ight, ow, ce, ci, ge, gi.

 

בכיתה ד' אנו מחזקות את הקריאה והדיבור. ממשיכות בבנית משפטים, קריאת ספרים והעשרת אוצר המילים..

 בכיתה ה' אנו ממשיכות בקבוצותינו, ומתקדמות בקריאה, בדיבור ובשפה. אנו מתקדמות בדקדוק והבנת הנקרא בשתי קבוצות, ומחזקות את הקריאה בכל הרמות. אנו משפרות את הדיבור באנגלית, ובונות את הביטחון העצמי שלנו בשפה.-לומדות עם עת הדעת ומעשירות את השפה בנושאים מגוונים.

 

בכיתה ו' אנו ברמה יפה מאד. בכל הקבוצות אנו לומדות ספר מן המנין המכין אותנו לקראת החטיבה, וכן אנו לומדות הבנת הנקרא ודקדוק – present progressive, present simple, adjectives ובחלק מהקבוצות גם past, future and comparison. בקבוצה המתקדמת, אנו לומדות דקדוק ברמה של כיתה ז', קוראות סיפורי unseens לבד ועונות על שאלות הבנה, מעבירות Show and Tell לכיתה בכל שבוע, בו אנו מספרות לכיתה על חפץ יקר שלנו באנגלית.

תכנית דוברי אנגלית

 

In Grade 1 we learn the English alphabet and phonetic reading.

 

In Grade 2 we review phonetic reading, long vowels, and decoding. We also learn sentence structure and begin reading comprehension with short texts.

 

In Grade 3 students read short stories and study language units based on each text. Units cover reading comprehension, grammar, and specific language skills based on the vocabulary of each story. Formal grammar instruction begins in the third grade along with periodic book report assignments. Students in the third grade also participate in a six-week Book-A-Thon reading contest that encourages independent reading in an exciting, inter-grade competition.

 

In Grade 4 students learn the roots of the English language and systematically study word parts that assist in their reading fluency and reading comprehension. Formalized grammar instruction continues along with an emphasis on extended writing. Students compile a scrapbook throughout the school year with a collection of their guided, creative writing assignments. Fourth year students complete book reports and participate in a Book-A-Thon reading competition. In addition to the class textbook, students read novels from the Jelly Library.

 

In Grade 5 students study extended texts and learn reading strategies to strengthen comprehension. Students are taught to analyze stories and identify crucial aspects of a story. Paragraph structure is introduced and extended writing is emphasized. Students create an artistic collection of their creative writing in the form of a scrapbook and complete book reports throughout the year. Fifth Graders also participate in an inter-grade Book-A-Thon reading competition and study books from the Jelly Library. Formalized grammar instruction is another essential aspect of the curriculum.

 

In Grade 6 students are introduced to literary terms and the basic elements of literature. Texts are analyzed with specific reading strategies that facilitate comprehension and foster active reading. Paragraph structure and extended writing is emphasized, as is creative self-expression. Students read books from the Jelly Library and participate in a six-week Book-A-Thon reading competition. Book reports are assigned periodically and grammar is another emphasized aspect of the curriculum.
